About the Role

You will be the analytical engine of Blocklead's investment process. For every new investment opportunity — both incubated companies we are forming and external co-investments we are evaluating — you will own the diligence work that sits underneath the partnership's final decision. You will average four to six new opportunity workups per quarter, plus contributions to our thesis development cycle, plus support on portfolio follow-on decisions. The role is deliberately structured as a launching pad: strong analysts here move into Senior Analyst, Associate, or Investment Manager roles within 24 months.

What You'll Actually Do

For each prospective investment, you will produce a 6–10 page investment memo covering: market size and structure (bottom-up TAM, growth drivers, competitive landscape mapped via Crunchbase, PitchBook, and Tracxn), founder background and reference synthesis (10+ reference calls per founder), product and technical evaluation (in coordination with our technical advisor pool), commercial traction analysis (cohort retention, ACV trends, pipeline quality), and a recommendation with explicit risks. You will conduct primary research on emerging AI verticals using Tegus, AlphaSense, and direct expert calls — typically four to eight expert conversations per thesis area per quarter. You will own competitive intelligence for our active investment areas, maintaining living maps of incumbents, well-funded startups, and stealth-mode companies in vertical AI agents, AI dev tools, and applied ML infrastructure. You will support deal execution work including term sheet preparation, basic cap table analysis, and coordination with co-investors during diligence.

What Success Looks Like

In 90 days: you have shipped two diligence-grade investment memos, completed onboarding with our research stack, and contributed primary research to at least one active thesis area. By month six: your memos are circulated directly to the partnership without heavy edits, you have built two to three competitive intelligence maps that are actively used in deal evaluation, and at least one investment you analyzed has closed. By month twelve: you have established a clear point of view on at least one Blocklead investment area, you have presented your view to the full partnership, and you are on a credible path to Senior Analyst or Associate.

What We're Looking For

Two to four years in venture capital (analyst or junior associate), investment banking (TMT or growth equity coverage at a top-tier firm), management consulting (MBB or top boutique with technology focus), or strategic finance at a Series B+ AI/SaaS startup. You write memos that lead with a clear recommendation and a defensible thesis, not a recap of facts. You can build market models in Excel that someone else can audit. You can engage substantively with AI founders on the underlying technology without overstating your technical depth — humility about what you don't know is a feature, not a bug.

Nice to Have

Direct AI, ML, or computer science background (CS degree, ML coursework, applied projects). Prior product or strategy experience at an early-stage AI startup. Public writing or analysis on AI markets, companies, or technical trends.
